Methods of payment
At the border
The quickest and most efficient method of payment is at the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) office when you cross the border with the vehicle. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted.
On-line
Payment can be made on-line with Visa, MasterCard or American Express.
By mail
Payment by cheque or money order can be sent by mail to an RIV office.
In person
Payment by credit card, cheque or money order can be made in person at the RIV office at 405 The West Mall, Toronto
If you wish to pay RIV fees in person at an RIV office or prefer to send a money order or cheque by regular mail, see Contact us for the RIV location and mailing address.
NOTE: Personal cheques will be held for 10 business days for bank clearance before RIV will release the RIV inspection form for a vehicle. This wait time will use up a portion of the 45-day period (or 1 year for salvage vehicles) during which vehicle modifications and the RIV inspection must be completed.
